Please note that AAPP v8.2 was released on 10th May. This is an AAPP update release. The main changes are to support new FY-3 BUFR sequences (already used in GTS data dissemination) and to update the NOAA-20 capabilities. Note that 2 new test cases are available to demonstrate these functions. As usual, two tar files are available, one which is the full v8.2 release and one which can be used to update an existing (v8.1) installation.

NOAA and EUMETSAT have recently started disseminating NOAA-20 CrIS BUFR files in Full-Spectral-Resolution format. To decode these using AAPP, you need to use the ecCodes interfaces. Unfortunately there is a bug that will cause the decode to fail … details of how to fix it are posted as bug #3 at https://nwp-saf.eumetsat.int/site/software/aapp/updates/.
Note that you need to specify the instrument as “CRISFSR” when decoding these files.
